Review: Power support iPad 2 screen protector

Following on from my review of the Power Support screen protector for iPhone 4S, I thought I'd also give a few thoughts on the same brand of screen protector for the iPad 2. As I said previously, I do think the Power Support protectors are amongst the best, if not the best, on the market. So it was with great interest I received the iPad 2 screen protector to test!

One slight negative to note from the outset is that the iPad protector package only includes 1 screen protector - I think this is a little harsh when you consider that (a) it's not cheap at £30 and (b) the iPhone packs have 3 protectors in them (two for the front and one for the back)!

The other concern I had was something that I also mentioned previously - the likelihood of dust getting under the protector at point of install - since the iPad screen protector is several times larger than the IPhone, there was a real chance of dust ruining what is otherwise a very clear view through the protector. To some extent, my concerns were valid (see below).

Anyway, on first approach, I used the same method of installing iPad protector as for the iPhone - only substituting the credit card for a ruler this time.

Having completed my install, I did find 4-5 pieces of dust under the protector, and so had to follow a process of using Sellotape to pull up the protector, and dabbing off (with another piece of tape) the relevant dust. In all cases, further air bubbles had to be removed. It was actually a bit of a kerfuffle to get it done - but in case you decide to install one, I suggest a room that doesn't have too much airborne dust in it, and cleaning of the screen and the protector (using a decent screen cleaner) prior to starting.

I have to say, that since the protector has been on, it's done a great job of keeping the screen safe from various threats...given the pedigree that Power Support now have across the iOS devices, I'd be hesitant recommending any other brand.

In summary then, I'd say that if you want a screen protector that you can rely on to keep your precious iPad screen estate scratch-free, then I suggest the Power Support iPad Screen protector - it's not cheap, but you do get what you pay for...

RATED: 8/10
